Dear professor Huang:
Thank you very much for sending the book on rare and endangered plants of Guizhou. The photographs are really spectacular and show the vegetation and habits of the plants quite well. I did notice that most of the plants included are woody. Is this because the woody flora is much better known than the herbaceous flora? My impression was that Guizhou Province is very interesting and I would like to do field work there again sometime.
It has been reported that there may be wild Ginkgo trees in north Central Guizhou, and if so they, too, must occur in only populations. Or,if they do occur are they in large numbers? It would be most interesting to do field work where Ginkgo grows wild. I mentioned this to Wang Peishan when he was here, but have not heard from him about the possibilities, even though he has written several times.
Thank you again for your very nice book and for your thoughtfulness.
All best wishes.
Sincerely,
David E.Boufford
